Currently known as the Apia International, this combined ATP and WTA tennis event is held every year at the NSW Tennis Centre in Sydney, Australia. This popular event is one of the most recognizable tennis events of Asia Pacific and draws big number of players and spectators every year in the second week of January when the tournament is annually held. . It is one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world, dating to 1885.

Interestingly, former World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt who won the same title way back in 2005 also won the Kooyong Classic tournament in Melbourne, earlier in the day.
