The Aircel Chennai Open is an ATP World tour 250 event and is one of the biggest tennis events in the Indian sub-continent played in Chennai, India since 1997. The tournament has served as a platform to several aspiring young tennis players, who have gained some much needed confidence going into the season. Canadian Milos Raonic emerged as the champion last year after defeating Janko Tipsarevic in a three set marathon.
