The French Open often referred to as Roland Garros. It is the premier clay court tennis tournament in the world and the second of the four annual Grand Slam tournaments. Roland Garros is the only Grand Slam held on clay and ends the spring clay court season. It is one of the largest events in tennis and by far the largest clay-court tournament. Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova are the defending champions. It is the most physically intense tournament because of the slow surface and the 5 set matches for Men’s.

I feel better. The ankle is not bothering me any more, which is great news. I'm already slowly starting to release the protection from the ankle because I feel more and more stable on it. There's no pain, which is great. I love Italy. I also speak Italian, so I feel like a local. I respect the choices of a crowd and who they support and I understand it's not going to always be me.

- Novak Djokovic has said that he feels no pain in his right ankle any more, and is raring to go at the Italian Open in Rome.
I don't think it's a problem to be honest. We are relaxed and don't play team sport and mix a lot, not with the girls, but with the guys and we're very open. What would happen in this event? I don't know. I don't know if there is anyone. I would hope there are no issues on the tour. You know, there have to be some players who are probably gay but I don't think other players have any issues with it and hope tennis deals with this well.

- Roger Federer and Andy Murray joined the likes of Mardy Fish, Andy Roddick, Sam Querrey and the Bryan Brothers in believing that gay tennis players would not face discrimination on tour.
Since we started playing on clay in Europe, I've realised that my drive is working again at its high level. I'm able to open the angles and play a lot of winning points. I couldn't do that in Barcelona or Monte Carlo; over here I could… It's true these last matches I have been able to reach that place where I want to be playing, the kind of play that I'm aiming for. I'm very happy for everything that has happened. Forty titles on clay are far more than what I've ever dreamed of. I will just enjoy them and continue working on the same level to try to be better and to try to be at a really good level for what will come in the future.

- Rafael Nadal recently lifted his 40th title on clay at the Madrid Masters and said that his game has reached the level he had been aiming for.
I thought it was the right decision because, luckily for me, nothing really happened when I twisted the ankle during the match. It was a slight moment. I had good protection on my ankle. So right now that is the only positive thing that I look into, is that I didn't injure my ankle worse before Rome and Paris.

- Novak Djokovic of Serbia praised Grigor Dimitrov for handling him a three-set loss on Tuesday.
We all know he would deserve it. I mean, he's been so successful there in the last eight, nine years that everybody knows that he deserves it. Is it really going to make a huge difference if he's five or one. Not a whole lot, I don't think, at the end of the tournament. If I were to play him in the quarters or in the semis or any other player, it's not the finals yet. So the best is going to win. Rafa obviously has a great chance because of the great player he is on clay. I'm happy that they took a decision regardless of which one was the right one, just to go with something. Now there is peace and quiet around it again.

- Roger Federer has asserted that Rafael Nadal deserves higher seed at the 2013 French Open.
