TennisEarth.com Rating System (TER)
Join the discussion here!!!
TennisEarth.com Rating (TER) is a revolutionary rating system designed for Amateur tennis players. It allows you to rate and rank your tennis game with any one else in the world. Using this system, you can keep records of all the friendly or competitive matches that you have played and then obtain your rating. This rating is based on:
1. Match result (Win, Loss or Draw)
2. Sets won vs lost
3. Games won vs lost
4. Difference in the ratings of the 2 teams playing.
For example, if you beat an opponent who has been rated much higher than you, you will win more points because you have beaten a very good opponent. Further a win of 6-0, 6-0 will get you more points than a win of 6-4, 6-3.
The professional players start with 1800 points and other players start with 1200 points. Once there are enough matches played between professional and amateur players, the 2 groups will merge to give a unified rating.
How it works:
To check your rating, all you need to do is to follow the 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Open Accounts: All the players who played a match need to Open an Account at TennisEarth.com and need to Choose a Screen Name so that they can identify each other. Open account now.
Step 2: Submit match scores: Any of the players who played the match can enter the match scores at Submit Scores page. Other players are notified via email about this submission.
Step 3: Verify match scores: Other players can now come and verify match scores. Once all the players verify the match, it will be used for calculation of everyone's ratings within an hour of verification.
That's it. The ratings are calculated for singles and doubles (separately) at the turn of every hour (GMT time) and you can check your rating at My Points page and your ranking for singles and doubles at My Ranking page.
Important information:
1. Make sure that your matches for a week (Mon-Sun) are Submitted and Verified by Tuesday midnight GMT. This is to make sure that we can calculate and freeze previous weeks ratings on Wednesday morning and not allow any more matches to be added for that week.
2. Your latest ratings could change during the week. This will happen if, later on, any matches are submitted and verified by others that were played before your match and have an effect your or your opponents' ratings.
3. You can also check your rankings amongst a subset of players (for example Singles, Male, Under 30 players from UK) at Group Rankings page. Very soon we are releasing the concept of clubs and you will be able to compare your rankings with your fellow players.
Don't wait. Enter your match scores now and check back within an hour of their verification to rate your tennis game!!
