Russian Vera Zvonareva played a well controlled match against the German Andrea Petkovic and earned an easy victory in straight sets with a 6-1 6-2 scoreline.
The Russian got hold over the proceedings from the very beginning of the match, as she broke the German in the opening game of the first set. Afterwards, it was Russian all the way, as she allowed the German to win only one game in the first and two in the second set.
Zvonareva played some blistering forehands to bewitch the German. At the same time, Petkovic also added more to her woes by committing unforced errors on a regular basis – throughout the match.

Zvonareva repeatedly broke the German and reached a comfortable position in the second set. Though, the German got the break in the seventh game of the second set, but then it was too late for her to make a comeback. Zvonareva broke her again in the next game and clinched the victory in style.
Zvonareva will face the defending champion Kim Clijsters in her quarterfinal
