Eighth seed and home favourite Barbora Zahlavova Strycova struggled before registering a hard fought win over a Russian qualifier Ksenia Pervak to enter the quarterfinals of the 2010 ECM Prague Open, being played here in Prague, Czech Republic.
"In the first set I didn't really know how to play. She gets a lot of balls back," said Zahlavova Strycova. "In the second set I was more patient and it went better. It will be better to play Larsson in the quarterfinals rather than Safarova, but I don't want to underestimate her, and I will still have to work very hard to win.
In the day's only other singles match, unseeded Gerogian Anna Tatishvili recovered from an early 4-2 deficit to beat Czech Wild Card Eva Hrdinova 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 25 minutes of play.
