Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark prevailed against Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada 6-2 6-7(1) 6-2 to reach into the semifinals of the HP Open on Friday.
The U.S. Open finalist improved to 5-0 against Wozniak and will next play third-seeded Samantha Stosur of Australia, who defeated American Jill Craybas 6-1 6-3.
The other semifinal will feature India's Sania Mirza and Italian Francesca Schiavone.
Both of them booked their place in the semifinals as thier respective opponents withdrew due to injuries.
Bartoli was a set down and trailing 0-2 in the second set against Mirza, when she was forced to retire due to right shoulder injury.
"You always like to win match point, so it was unfortunate but I felt I was playing well and was in control. At the end of the day, a win is a win. The big thing for me is that I was outplaying a Top 15 player, who was in good form," Mirza said. "I'm pleased that after two weeks of not playing my best, I'm finishing on a high and have made the semifinals. I'm playing a good friend next."
Schiavone didn't even stepped on the court as seventh seeded Melinda Czink withdrew due to a right foot injury.
