Probably the most ROYAL Grand Slam out of the four, Wimbledon announced the players being awarded a Wild Card in the main draws of this event. A few of these Wild Cards have been awarded solely on the basis of their French Open performances.
These include the 21 year old Belgian David Goffin, who after being awarded a lucky loser at Roland Garros, reached Round 4 there and also took the first set from Roger Federer. This young lad definitely has shown potential and would be one really interesting prospect at Wimbledon this year. Also getting a Wild Card was Former Champion Lleyton Hewitt, who won the title in 2002. His fighting abilities is what makes him so special. Former World No.2 Tommy Haas also was granted a wild card as everyone knows what this player is capable off.
On the Ladies side, French Virginie Razzano was handed a wild card. Razzano will be known for a very
long time, as she is the first player to knock Serena Williams out in the first round of a Grand Slam. Surprise French Open quarter finalist Yaroslava Shvedova also got a wild card, thanks to her performances at the French Open, where she out did Li Na, the defending French Open champion. Also getting a wild card is Local girl Laura Robson.
Lets hope that these wild card entrants really trouble the players they face and try getting deeper into the tournament.
