Both the players are coming off nicely against each other. Serena started off in her typical dominating manner, but Zvonareva responded well to hold on to her serves without any substantial exertion. Serena committed her first double fault of the match in the third game, and then immediately bounced back with superb backhand down the line and then with a furious ace to hold on.
