The Russian Vera Zvonareva regrouped herself nicely after losing the first set. After winning the second set, Zvonareva broke Pironkova’s serve in the very first game of the final set and easily held on to her to get 2-0 lead. Pironkova made a few awful unforced errors and Zvonareva made the most of them to make quick in-roads in the final set.
