After registering a comprehensive victory in her opening match, Stephens faced a stiff resistance in the second and third-rounds. But, the American topped in both contests by showing a great presence of mind and nerves of steel during the crunch moments.

The nineteen year old Monica Puig has become a household name in her home-country Puerto Rico because of her sensational rise to the occasion at the 2013 Wimbledon. Puig has a mustered a fine 30-16 win-loss record for the season. She started off her Wimbledon campaign in style by upsetting fifth-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci in the opener. In her second and third-round matches, Puig faced a stiff resistance but she showed a great belief in her abilities and won those matches in three sets. Full of energy and dynamic shots in her artillery, Puig has it to make a name for herself in the ever-competitive world of tennis.
