A high energy duel in the offing, brace yourself to enjoy tremendous tennis, when twenty year old Sloane Stephens of USA will square off against nineteen year old Monica Puig of Puerto Rico.

While not a single American is left in the men’s draw in the singles competition, Sloane Stephens and her childhood idol Serena Wlliams are still there to keep the American hopes alive in the women’s singles competition. Not an overwhelming favorite to clinch the title like her compatriot Serena Williams, World No. 17 Sloane Stephens has gradually emerged as a new hope of the American tennis, which is battling with the worst talent crunch in the decade. Today, Stephens will be in action against another exciting youngster Monica Puig in a fourth-round match-up of the 2013 Wimbledon. This is the showing at a Grand Slam so far for Monica Puig and she has been looking better with every match.

The twenty year old Sloane Stephens made an outstanding start to the season when she reached the semi-finals of the Aussie Open after beating her idol Serena Williams. Since then Stephens has produced some fine results on tour and compiled a good 22-13 win-loss record in 2013 so far. After registering a comprehensive victory in her opening match, Stephens faced a stiff resistance in the second and third-rounds. But, the American topped in both contests by showing a great presence of mind and nerves of steel during the crunch moments.

The nineteen year old Monica Puig has become a household name in her home-country Puerto Rico because of her sensational rise to the occasion at the 2013 Wimbledon. Puig has a mustered a fine 30-16 win-loss record for the season. She started off her Wimbledon campaign in style by upsetting fifth-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci in the opener. In her second and third-round matches, Puig faced a stiff resistance but she showed a great belief in her abilities and won those matches in three sets. Full of energy and dynamic shots in her artillery, Puig has it to make a name for herself in the ever-competitive world of tennis.

This will be a first meeting between these two rising WTA stars and both are looking at par with each other.
