Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli continues to struggle and getting a rhythm going has often been a huge issue for the Frenchwoman for the last couple of years.
On the days that Bartoli finds her rhythm, the Frenchwoman is truly capable of destroying just about any hurdle put in her path but where she lacks is her ability to stay on top, when she does find that rhythm.
Not only is her style of play very unorthodox, her on court strategies are sometimes quite bizarre. For instance only Marion has the guts to step in on a Serena Williams first serve and try to take the ball on the rise somehow and while it might put some pressure on her opponents, those tactics backfire more often than not.
She might not be the most mobile player on the planet, Bartoli has difficulty moving up and down the court especially. Another obvious frailty that has been exploited by her opponents in recent times is her reach. Despite using a custom made longer racket, Bartoli’s double handed forehand reduces that reach considerably and most of her adversaries find it easy to out maneuver the Frenchwoman.
Despite it all, there is something special about the former Wimbledon finalist when she plays on grass.
Opposite her stands Italian Camila Giorgi who comes into the match having gotten the better of talented Romanian Sorana Cirstea in the previous round. Giorgi’s win-loss record this year stands at 4-9 at the moment.
Head to Head: In their only previous match which took place earlier in the year, it was Giorgi who came out on top winning the match in straight sets.
