In a hugely anticipated round-robin contest of the 2012 Tournament of Champions on Tuesday World No. 16 Roberta Vinci earned a straight sets 6-1 6-2 victory World No. 32 Daniela Hantuchova and made a perfect start to her campaign here in Bulgaria. It is the finale for the WTA's International Series, with the six highest-ranked players who have won an International title this year - and two wildcards - in the eight-woman field.
Vinci made a brilliant start to the match by breaking Hantuchova in the opening game of the match and maintained same sort of momentum until she mustered a straight sets victory. Vinci served well, as she fired 3 aces and mustered 73% points on her first serve. The Italian also converted 5 out of 8 break-points and saved 4 out of 5 break-points.
Re-live the excitement of this encounter!
Vinci took only 32 minutes to win the first set by maintaining the consistent pressure on the Slovakian. The trend continued in the second-set too and Hantuchova lost the battle on a tame note.

Vinci is the worst sort of match up for Daniela: consistent, moves well, plays variety and doesn't give massive pace.

She really needs to have a word. She's probably won about 10 matches all year!

It's still disappointing though. Dani needs all the matches she can get going into next year.

No surprised here really.
