World No.1 Victoria Azarenka faces World No.4 Agnieszka Radwanska in the semifinals of the Porsche Grand Tennis Grand Prix. Both players are coming off very tough victories in their previous rounds.
Azarenka started the year brilliantly when she won the Sydney International. She followed that win with her first Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open. By doing that, she became the first-ever player to jump from World No.3 to World No.1 directly. She continued to play like a champion in the following months as she won the WTA title at Doha and then at Indian Wells too. Her unbeaten streak was put to halt at the Miami Sony Ericsson Open by Marion Bartoli. Her win-loss record stands at an incredible 26-1. She won an energy sapping match against German Mona Barthel in three tightly contested sets.
Radwanska has had a good year so far with her win-loss record standing at 26-4. She started the year
by reaching the semifinals of the Sydney International and then only managed to reach the quarterfinal of the only Grand Slam this year - the Australian Open. She has since, picked her game up and won her eighth WTA title at Dubai, with that she cracked the Top 5 in March and then jumped to the World No.4 spot in the world winning her ninth WTA title in Miami, upsetting Maria Sharapova in the final. Her pulsating three set victory over Na Li proved why she has jumped the rankings so fast.
The two have played 12 times with Azarenka leading 9-3. In 2012 the two have played 4 times with all victories going to the World No.1.
