Vesnina shines on opening day at Open GDF Suez

The Open GDF Suez kicked off with two main draw matches featuring Elena Vesnina and Agnes Szavay with both women registering contrasting wins to move ahead.
Eighth seeded Russian Elena Vesnina made a solid start to her title bid at the 2010 Open GDF Suez with a straight sets win over rising Romanian star Alexandra Dulgheru and reached the second round here in Paris, France.
In the day's only other match, Hungarian Agnes Szavay secured her place in the next round when Belarusian Olga Govortsova retired due to an injury while trailing 3-6, 0-1.
The second day features some of the brightest stars including Melanie Oudin, Patty Schnyder, Shahar Peer, Alisa Kleybanova and Virginie Razzano in action.
