It was vintage Venus Williams who absolutely annihilated French Open finalist Sara Errani to make the last eight in Cincinnati. She won the match 6-3,6-0. She is a major threat to the top seeds, if she continues play at this level.
Venus started the match well and continued to play at a level that the Italian could not match in the set. The American broke as early as the fourth game and then held serve to win the set 6-3 as she started serve first. She just needed about 35 minutes to wrap up a very one sided set where the Roland Garros finalist failed to make an impact. She smashed 4 aces and won 30 out of a possible 50 points.

The second set was whole different story as Venus took on another gear altogether, as the Italian faded away. Errani is really no where near the form that got her to the Roland Garros final, and really needs to buck up if she has to make any form of impact in the upcoming US Open. The second set took only 25 minutes.
