Rebecca Marino thoroughly tested the former world no. 1 Venus Williams in the second-round match of the US Open 2010. But, the experienced Venus prevailed in the end and wrapped up the match in straight sets with a 7-6 (3) 6-3 scoreline to book her place in the third round of the US Open.

Both the players held on to their serves in the first set and it reached the tie-breaker, where Venus won it easily with a 7-6 (3) score. Venus had a few opportunities to get the coveted break in the first set but she failed to convert those.
At the same time, Marino averted a few threats with the help of her powerful serving.
Second-set also began in the same fashion, but here Venus did the trick by earning a few cheeky points near the net and got the break in the fourth game of the second set. Afterwards, Venus did not look back and finished off with a 6-3 score.
