Venus Williams is on a comeback spree as she faces a spirited German in the form of Angelique Kerber in the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open, the Masters event of the season on clay.
With a really low ranking of 72 in the World, Williams comes into this tournament with a 7-2 win-loss record. This is her third tournament of the year, after the Sony Ericsson Open and the Family Circle Cup. She is looking to get back amongst the best in the World and also have a shot at playing the Olympics.
Her opponent, Angelique Kerber is playing some really high quality tennis, with a good 26-8 win-loss record. She has already won a couple of titles this year as she aims to climb up the rankings and eventually crack the Top-10. Ranked at 14 in the World, the German as a great serve and has the zeal to win matches.
The two have played just once before with Williams prevailing in two easy sets.
