Venus opened the match on a bright note and broke Kleybanova's serve in the very first game. Although the Russian did get a break back in the fourth game, Williams then took matters in her own hands and closed the opening set by 6 games to 4.
The second set turned out to be a lopsided affair when Williams broke Kleybanova's serve repeatedly with the help of her overall 24 winners and claimed the victory with a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline.
Other notable winners from the women's draw are Vera Zvonareva, Tsvetana Pironkova, Marion Bartoli, Jelena Jankovic and the Belgians - Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin.
Meanwhile, on the Centre Court, 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt ended the run of Frenchman Gael Monfils with a straight sets 6-3, 7-6(9), 6-4 win in two hours and 9 minutes of gruelling tennis.
Other winners of the day from the men's draw are Novak Djokovic, Thiemo De Bakker and Paul-henri Mathieu, who all registered convincing wins over their respective opponents to move ahead in the draw.
