Vania King registered an easy win over Anastasia Rodionova with 6-4 7-5 and made it into semifinals of the Strasbourg International.
King, who ousted second-seeded Elena Vesnina in the first round, broke Rodionova six times in this match where both players struggled to hold serve.
King will play Kristina Barrois of Germany in the semi-final, who thrashed seventh-seeded Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia 6-1 7-5.
Barrois ended Sevastova’s run of seven consecutive victories, which included her first Tour win at Estoril this month.
On the other hand, top-seeded Maria Sharapova was leading 3-2 with a break when her match against Julia Goerges was interrupted by rain. Anabel Medina Garrigues had won the first set 6-2 against Sofia Arvidsson when their match was stopped.
Those matches will resume on Friday before the semifinals.
