American Serena Williams is eying a fourth US Open title as she next faces Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain or place in the third round. Williams is ranked 4 in the world as compared to a low 108 for Sanchez.
Williams has been in some really destructive form of late and lost just 4 matches in the last 5 months. With a premature exit at Roland Garros, Williams withdrew from the Rome Masters due to an injury. But, she has not looked back since. She lost in the last 8 of the Cincinnati Masters and proved even greats have some tough time. She has had an unbeaten run at All England Club, where she won both Wimbledon and the London Olympics in both singles and doubles categories.
With 5 titles already in her kitty this year and a bedazzling 49-4 win-loss record in 2012 yet, Serena is definitely the woman to look out for at the US Open this year. She is also crawling closer to the elusive World No.1 ranking and would be hoping to get there before this year end. With aggression written all over her game style, Serena is really helped by the fast hard courts at the US Open.
The two have faced each other thrice with Serena holding a clean sheet with a 3-0 head-to-head. In the menacing form she is, Serena looks to hold the edge for this one too.
