Andy Murray scored a impressive victory against Croat Ivan Dodig with 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 scoreline to reach the third round of US Open 2012.
Britain’s Grand Slam hope Andy Murray scored a comprehensive victory over Croatian qualifier Ivan Dodig with 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 scoreline in a second-round match of the 2012 US Open Tennis Championships.
Match Cast: Murray vs Dodig
Murray got a early break in the third game of the first set and broke Dodig again in the seventh game before he served out for a set lead in the match.
The Briton stepped on the pedal in the second set and reeled off five games in a row after 1-1 scoreline. In the third set, Murray secured another break at 3-1 and kept it till the end to close the match in straight sets. Murray fired 10 aces and placed 30 winners in the match.
"I thought I played well," Murray said. "There were a lot of long rallies and he moves extremely well. I moved my feet very well tonight and I played well."
Murray will next face the winner of the all-Spanish encounter between Feliciano Lopez and Pablo Andujar.
