Former World No.1 and one of the hottest players on the WTA Tour Ana Ivanovic gets set to start her campaign at the 2012 US Open when she faces Ukrainian teenager Elina Svitolina in the opening round.

Presently ranked at No.13 in the World, Ivanovic is knocking on the Top-10 door and would be hoping to reach there by this year end. With a decent 25-15 win-loss record this year, Ivanovic is still in the hunt for her first title of 2012 and would also be looking to go deep into this tournament by reaching the second week. With some thundering forehands and a good serve, Ivanovic’s will to win matches has seen her get back amongst the best in the business.

Her opponent, Svitolina came through the qualifying and would be hoping to gather a lot of match experience against her highly ranked opponent. Ranked at 176 in the World, this upcoming teenager will be a player to watch out for in the near future.

This will be the first time the two will be facing each other and Ivanovic would come in as a crushing favorite.
