9 years after winning his one and only Grand Slam, American hero Andy Roddick prepares to hang his boots. But, he is not done yet! He is alive in the draw and is looking dangerous. Big serving Andy Roddick comes into the US Open with some confidence behind him as he recently lifted his second title of the year at the Atlanta Tennis Championships. With his big, booming serve boosting his confidence, the fast courts of Flushing Meadows perfectly suit his game. With a win-loss record of 21-15 this year, Roddick would be aiming a spot in the second week here by upsetting some higher ranked players. He has played some really inspiring tennis in the previous two rounds would want to continue things that way.
His opponent, Fognini came from a 2 sets to 0 deficit in the opening round and backed it up with an impressive performance in the second round. Still in search for his first ATP Tour title, Fognini comes into this match with a win-loss record of 17-18 this season. He has a huge forehand and has is really quick on court. Along with that, he is one of those players who like having fun on court and does not shy away from smiling during points.
The two have faced each other just once and Roddick emerged victorious in that clash. With the crowd backing him for every match he plays now, Roddick is a favorite going into this match.
