Serbian Viktor Troicki created an upset after defeating defending champion Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-3, 6-2.Troicki who lost to Sahkhovsky in the second round last year said he “waited the whole year” to avenge that defeat. He will play second-seeded Cilic on Saturday.
Crotia's no 1 Cilic, winner of Chennai Open in 2009 , battled past countryman Antonio Veic 6-2, 7-6 (6), and was impressed by the fight put up by a wild card playing in his first ATP quarterfinals.
Seventh-seeded Ancic won another all-Croatian match against qualifier Ivan Dodig, 6-1, 6-3. Dodig had upset top-seeded Igor Andreev to make his first ATP quarters.
Ancic will play Hernych, who advanced when Zverev retired with breathing problems and thus increasing the possibilities the of all Crotian final.
