Before Day 13 got under way at the US Open, the weather experts predicted a tough day ahead and it came as no surprise when it started pouring before the first scheduled match even started. The weather forced to the tournament organizers to reschedule the Ladies Singles Finals for Sunday and finish the two Men’s Singles Semi-finals today.
But things weren’t supposed to be that way, after Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych took the court and somehow Murray scraped through the extreme conditions to overcome Berdych, Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer were on the court in no time.
As the match progressed, Ferrer gained control of the opening set by breaking the Serb’s serve twice to lead 5-2 when the tournament director came out and requested the players to rush back to the locker rooms. Also the spectators were asked to evacuate the stadium as a potentially destructive tornado was about to hit the venue.
According to the new schedule, Ferrer and Djokovic take court on the Sunday morning ET followed by the Ladies Singles Finals in the afternoon. The Men’s Singles final has been shifted to Monday.
