In all German clash at 2012 BMW Open, former World No 2 and wild card entrant Tommy Haas faces another wild card Michael Berrer in his first round match at the tournament. 

Haas, who is making his first appearance in Munich in five years, has 4-4 win loss record this year. Haas has an 11-8 career mark in Munich and was a runner-up in 2000. 

His opponent - Berrer has average 3-2 win loss record this year and managed to reach the semis at Zagreb earlier this season.  Berrer is 1-2 in Munich and would be aiming to improve the record this time. Berrer still awaits the title haul at ATP World tour level. 

Both the players have met once at Newport in 2011 where Haas won 7-6(9), 6-4.
