Serbian Janko Tipsarevic today caused the biggest upset of the 2010 US Open so far when he took out 2003 champion and home favourite Andy Roddick to enter the third round of the year's last major being played here in Flushing Meadows, New York.

Roddick made a usual start to the match and broke Tipsarevic's serve in the sixth game to eventually close the first set 6-3. The second set brought the best out of both players when Tipsarevic gallantly held all his serves and secured a crucial break in the twelth game to level the match at one set a piece.
The third set gave Tipsarevic immense confidence as his shotmaking improved multifolds and gave him a break in the sixth game to race to a two sets to one lead. The fourth set did not witness any breaks of serve and as a result, went into the tie-break. Tipsarevic then grabbed a crucial mini-break in the fifth point and completed the 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6(4) victory in three hours and 18 minutes of high quality tennis.
Tipsarevic hit a total of 66 winners and 16 aces as opposed to Roddick's 40 winners. The Serbian's first serve percentage was also impressive at 81%.
Earlier in the day, fourth seed and 2008 finalist Andy Murray secured his place in the second round with a clinical 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 win over Slovakian Lukas Lacko.
Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey also managed to enter the next round with the help of contrasting victories over their respective opponents.
In another big upset from the day, Seventh seed and Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych suffered a shocking straight sets defeat at the hands of French veteran Michael Llodra, losing 7-6(3), 6-4, 6-4 to end his slam dreams this season.
Other winners of the day included Gael Monfils, Stanislas Wawrinka, Nicolas Almagro, Sergiy Stakhovsky, Juan Ignacio Chela, Dudi Sela, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Marcel Granollers, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, Mikhail Youzhny, Gilles Simon, Victor Hanescu and Ryan Harrison, who took out Indian Wells champion Ivan Ljubicic in four sets to move ahead in the draw.

Roddick's road has any which ways been rocky.. his title in miami is going to be long remembered as it is going to be his last perhaps.. lol
