Szavay registers an easy win over Zahlavova in the Mexican Open

Agnes Szavay of Hungary rallied against Sandra Zahlavova of the Czech Republic to reach the second round of the Mexican Open

Second-seeded Agnes Szavay started his winning campaign in the Mexican Open, against Sandra Zahlavova to reach the second round of the Mexican Open on Monday with a 2-6 6-1 6-3 scoreline.

In a big upset of the tournamet, Frenchman Richard Gasquet beat former champion and Spaniard Carlos Moya 4-6 6-3 6-2 on Monday at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel to reach the second round.

In another match, Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci thrashed Spaniard Oscar Hernandez 6-2 6-2 to reach the second round. Top seeded Spaniard Fernando Verdasco plays Fabio Fognini of Italy on Tuesday.

In Women's matches, defending champion and top-seed American Venus Williams plays against French Mathilde Johansson on Tuesday.
