Potito Starace played well to reach the first final in three years. The Italian gets 5-2 lead in the first set, but Chela bounced back and equalized the proceedings at 5-5 and took the set into a tie-breaker where he won it with a 7-6 (4). Starace started off well in the second set and raced to a 5-2 lead and easily wrapped it with
6-3.In the final set, Starace won the final four games and earned victory in almost two and half hours.

After the match, Starace quoted, "It was a very complicated match. I was up 5-2 in the first set and lost it 7-6. But I really wanted to try and win and I played very good, a great third set with a lot of winners. I’m really happy to be in my first final in three years.”
He further added, “I have an opportunity to win a tournament tomorrow but you never know what will happen. I’ve been playing good tennis for a month now, especially this week. I will try to do something special tomorrow.”
On the other hand, fourth seeded Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero eased past Italian Andreas Seppi with a 6-4 6-2 and reached the final of the ATP Studena Croatia Open, being played here in Umag.
Ferrero looked satisfied over his performance, as he said, "the beginning wasn't easy. We played with a lot of rhythm in the first set. The second set was a bit easier than I expected. I tried my best every point and it was enough to get through."
