Soderling claims his seventh title in Brisbane
World No. 5 Robin Soderling of Sweden won his seventh ATP World Tour title in Brisbane by defeating defending champion Andy Roddick of USA in straight sets with a 6-3 7-5 scoreline, in the final.

Top seeded Robin Soderling made quick in-roads into the match and never allowed big server Roddick to make a comeback – to clinch his seventh ATP World Tour title by winning the Brisbane International final, on Sunday. Soderling earned an easy win in the end in straight sets with a 6-3 7-5 scoreline. By winning this title, Soderling also re-achieved his career-high ranking at No. 4 in 2011 ATP Rankings.

The Swede served really well and did not face a break point throughout the match. In fact, Sodering mustered 35 out of 39 first serve points. On the other hand, Roddick faced 10 break points on his serve and Sodering converted one in each set to sail through.

After his Paris Masters title winning performance last year, this tournament has been certainly the best for the Swede. In fact, Soderling also made a great start of the just started 2011 season. The Swede did not drop a set to his en route to the title in this tournament. Soderling now enjoys a 7-10 winning record in finals.

Though, Roddick hammered 12 aces in the final, he could not tackle Soderling’s quick ground-shots and lost the match on a tame note.
