Serena opened the match on a bad note and lost her serve in the fifth game to give Kvitova an edge. However, in an instant shift in momentum, Williams got a break back and pushed the set into a deciding tie-break. As Kvitova faltered on key moments, Williams took the opening set by 7 points to 5.
The second set brought early success for the American who broke Kvitova's serve twice and completed the 7-6(5), 6-2 win in almost 90 minutes of play.
This is Williams' sixth Wimbledon final with three winning trophies already in her kitty. Williams lost the 2004 final to Maria Sharapova and 2008 final to elder sister Venus Williams.
Williams will meet Russian Vera Zvonareva in the final on Saturday. The Russian took out Bulgarian sensation Tsvetana Pironkova 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
