Simona Halep wins U.S. Open opener
World No.2 Simona Halep rallied from behind to beat 20-year-old Danielle Rose Collins in the opening round at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Monday.

Romanian star player Simona Halep defeated young American debutant Danielle Rose Collins 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-2 to enter the second round of the final Grand Slam of the year – US Open. The Romanian recently achieved the No. 2 position in WTA rankings.

“My best moment of my life — I have to enjoy this,” Halep said in an on-court interview after the match. “But it’s not easy. There’s a lot of pressure on me. Everyone is telling me that I have chances to win.”

“Wow.It’s not easy to see that you play first match of tournament on center court,” she said. “But, you know, I have experience now. I didn’t manage very well the emotions, but it’s good that I finished well.”
