The quality of tennis really needed some improvement, as both the players didn't really give a good account for their undeniable talents. Set 2 saw a close battle yet again between the two, Sharapova had a solid argument with the chair umpire regarding a winner that she believed she hit. Zakopalova raced into a 6-3 lead in the tie break and takes the match into a decisive third. The set had it all, lots of drama as both players serve poorly again, and break one another 5 times each. Zakopalova hit 18 winners to Sharapova's 15. Sharapova led 5-2 at one point to throw the set away.
Set 3 was a much better performance by the Russian, who dropped only two games and won the match by smashed 13 winners compared to only 9 for Zakopalova. She broke her serve 3 times while this time the Czeck could only do it once. She won the set 6-2 in the end.
