When it comes to fashion and glamour, Williamses and Sharapova are tennis fraternity's answer to the glittering world of showbiz. On Sunday night, the prestigious Vanity Fair hosted the post oscar party where these leading ladies of the tennis world showed up, dressed from head to toe, in nothing but style.
13 time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, it seems, has a knack for hogging the limelight at the big occasions. Whether it's her on-court tussles with people involved in work other than returning her massive serves (read linesman and Chair Umpires), or showcasing her high profile wardrobe to create quite a stir. Sunday night was no different. Serena wore an elegant Christiane King backless golden-yellow dress with her ever-so-famous posterior show-off pose, that came as a bonus to the lensman and on-lookers present. Even Miley Cyrus couldn't take her eyes off the tennis beauty, who seemed to have appeared composed and ravishing amidst the hollywood beauties.
Serena's sister, Venus Williams, although turned out to be the winner of the night, wearing a fabulous toga style silk and chiffon dress designed by Christiane King, that combined the true spirit of the two colors involved- Pink and Purple. However, while posing for the photographers, she seemed to draw
some inspiration from Angelina Jolie's leg-show off at the oscars this year, giving everyone a glimpse of her well toned figure.
Ohh yes, did we tell you that even while standing next to a tall and chic Cameron Diaz, Venus managed to outdo the hollywood beauty with her grace and candour, which isn't really hard to spot, considering the warmth and down-to-earth persona of this multiple Grand Slam champion, that very well translated into the vivacity she brought on Sunday night.
And finally, Russian star Maria Sharapova, who, despite high expectations, failed to impress everyone with her not-so-chic, silk and chiffon lace and pearl blush colored Alexander McQueen white dress, that eventually made her look like a chick, only in a poultry farm. It seems Sharapova finally went wrong with her style statement after being critically acclaimed for her wonderful selections last season, both on court and off it.

Sharapova ruled the fashion arena in tennis the last two years, but Alex McQueen's selection of that dress, and that too at Oscar party, thats quite unlike her, she should have played safe and picked up a little black dress to sizzle among the stars.
