Belgium is taking over the presidency of the Europian Union this year and the country is planning to organize a mega event at Brussels on this occasion. A very niche group of Belgian's best talent is planned to be showcased at this event and this list would be incomplete without Belgium's best tennis players, Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin. Both the players have played each other before at extraordinary levels and battled each other for alomost 25 times before including the Wimbledon encounter. The head-to-head tally stays at 12-12 and Clijsters managed to nudge ahead at 13-12 after the Wimbledon defeat.
The Organizers' main aim was to break the world record for the most amount of spectators at a Tennis match which stands at 30, 492, who gathered to watch the battle of the sexes in 1973 between Bille Jean King and Bobby Riggs. The great players were showcased and publicized to a huge extent during the male dominant era. However the battle of the Belgians was all set to take the center stage when an unfortunate incident involving Henin came by. The 28-year old Belgian slipped on court while she was playing Kim Clijsters in the fourth round of Wimbledon this year and announced a two month injury break to the media.
Serena Williams is expected to fill in for the injured Belgian and will be paying Kim Clijsters at the event. Serena has played Clijsters 9times before and leads the head-to-head count by 7-2. The exhibition match featuring both the players is scheduled to be held on July 8th of this year just after the Wimbledon. On being asked about the exhibition match by the media, Serena replied "Yeah, I think I'll come if you guys want me to." The response of the spectators is yet to be seen as the event has already been publicized and promoted on a large scale all over the world.
