Former World No. 1 Serena Williams of USA beat Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan in straight sets and advanced into the second-round of the Rome WTA Premier Tournament.

Madrid champion Serena Williams took her form to Rome, as she registered a straight sets victory over Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan with a 6-2 6-3 scoreline and advanced into the second-round of this WTA Premier Event.

Serena took only 1 hour and 10 minutes to win this match. The American fired 24 winners and converted 4 out of 6 break-points to register this easy victory.

After 32 minutes of play - the former World No. 1 Serena Williams claimed the first set.  Voskoboeva had her moments, but she just could not match up with Serena's precision and agility. Serena mustered 56% points on her first serve, as she hammered 11 winners and converted 2 out of 3 break-points to go one set up in the match.

Galina Voskoboeva put up some decent fight in the second-set, but Serena earned the decisive break in the eighth game and then held on to her serve in the next to win this match – on a comprehensive note.
