Serena dismisses Azarenka's challenge in Istanbul
Reigning Wimbledon and U.S Open champion Serena Williams of America scored a straight set win against World No 1 Belarusian Victoria Azarenka at the WTA Championships 2012 on Thursday.

Both players started off well in the match and no breaks of serve were exchanged till the eighth game where Serena struck first but the American got herself broken in the next game and allowed Azarenka to bring the things back on serve. However the Belarusian failed to hold her serve for the second time in row and allowed Serena to take first set with 6-4 scoreline.

Match Cast: Serena vs Azarenka

Azarenka made a superb start in the second set as she raced to 3-0 lead but Serena bounced back strongly and reeled off four straight games to put herself in the front. The American earned a crucial break in the set when Azarenka was serving to stay in the match and registered a straight set victory.

Williams arrowed 11 aces in the middle and hammered 35 winners in the middle. She converted 5 of 6 break points in the match and got benefited from 22 unforced errors made by Azarenka in the match.

She kept the errors pretty low too except for a couple of games where she just lost concentration.

Serena's serve however manages to find full strength when facing Maria or Vika!

Vika was obviously never going to be fully fit after yesterday. The scheduling has been totally unfair to her, but she put up a pretty good fight. The danger is she could lose tomorrow if she's not careful. The serve today was horrific. She has no right to win if she serves like that in front of Serena.
