In the first match on central court at 2012 Madrid Open, American Serena Williams will face Elena Vesnina of Russia in the first round match on Monday.
Serena Williams is one of the few players on tour who can never be counted out of a title run, no matter what her fitness level is, or how prepared she is for the event, the truth is, Williams never fails to bring the mind of a fighter in every match she plays.
After a surprise fourth round defeat at the Australian Open, Williams missed a series of events due to an injury and once again gave Indian Wells a let go for the reasons that have created WTA's share of controversies in the past decade. After a quarterfinal finish in Miami, Williams assembled her feircest arrows to shoot down players like Samantha Stosur, Sabine Lisicki and won the title in Charleston.
Her opponent - Vesnina has an average 8/9 win loss record this year and last week she managed to reach the final of Budapest Grand Prix.
Both players have met on two occasions before and Serena has won each of them.
TennisEarth Pick : Williams to win in straight sets.
