World number one Serena Williams who won her 13th Grand slam title this year in the Wimbledon final has not played a match since that final. Now, her foot injury might force her to miss the US Open, which is the last Major of this year, starting from 30th August at Flushing Meadows.
Serena has already undergone an operation after she cut her right foot on broken glass at a restaurant. Serena will miss the hard-court events in Istanbul and Cincinnati -- as well as the Rogers Cup in Montreal before the start of the U.S. at Flushing Meadow. After the injury, Williams only played in an exhibition in Brussels on July 8 against Kim Clijsters.
Serena said, "I'm so upset I won't be able to play in the upcoming events because of this foot surgery." She further added "thank you for all of your support. I can't wait to get back on the courts."
