Fifth seeded Lukasz Kubot of Poland lost to Czech Lukas Rosol 7-5, 6-2 in the opening round of 2012 Serbia Open, Belgrade on Tuesday.

Another seeded player Italian Fabio Fognini lost 6-1, 6-4 to Benoit Paire of France. Paire fired 11 aces and broke Fognini four times to set up next round clash with Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, who battled past Russian Igor Kunitsyn 7-6(4), 6-7(1), 6-2.

Another seed was shown the exit door by Joao Souza of Brazil, who defeated seventh-seeded American Ryan Harrison 6-3, 6-3.

In other match of the day, eight seeded Gilles Muller of Luxembourg ousted Lukas Lacko 6-0, 4-6, 6-3. Muller will next face Argentine qualifier Eduardo Schwank, who dispatched Israel’s Dudi Sela 6-2, 7-6(2).
