The Italian started off well, but lost her concentration in the midway to offer some freebies to the Briton. At the same time Robson also failed to maintain the momentum that we saw in frequent intervals. Finally, the Italian used all her experience to win this duel.
Francesca Schiavone won the first set against Laura Robson after a bit of struggle. Both the players exchanged breaks early on in the set, before Schiavone had the crucial one in the eleventh game of the first set. The veteran Italian held on to her next service game and went one set up in the match. The trend continued in the second-set too, but Schiavone broke the Briton thrice to earn a comfortable win in the end.
In men’s singles duel, Andy Murray of Great Britain will take on the Italian Potito Starace.
