Sam Querrey wins Atlanta opener
In an all American first round match, Sam Querrey defeated his friend and doubles partner Steve Johnson with a 7-6, 7-5 scoreline on Monday in Atlanta.

Former World No. 17 Sam Querrey toppled his doubles teammate Steve Johnson to register a straight sets win in the opening round match of the BB&T Atlanta Open. The big serving American hammered 20 aces, won 88 percent of his first serve points and converted 50 percent break point chances to win the match.

"(The deco-turf hard court) suits my game. It takes a kick serve and rewards you with spin and jump, and rewards you with a fast serve and a slice," Querrey said. "It's not fun playing one of my best friends."

Now, the US No. 2 will face Dudi Sela of Israeli in the second round of the event after Sela beat local lad Donald Young 6-3, 6-0 to earn his date with Querrey.
