Former champions Russia raced to a formidable 2-0 opening day lead over India at the 2010 Davis Cup first round tie, being played here in Small Sports Arena "Luzhniki" - Moscow, Russia.
Andreev made a perfect start with a gruelling four sets win over India's No.1 player Somdev DevVarman. DevVerman opened the match well with an opening set in hand after a tough tie-break. However, things returned to normal for the Russian who bounced back to register a 6-7(6), 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-4 win to give host nation a 1-0 lead.
It wasn't long before Dubai finalist Mikhail Youzhny consolidated the lead with a straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 demolition of Prakash Amritraj in one hour and 43 minutes of dominant tennis.
In tomorrow's doubles rubber, former world champions Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi exclusively pair up to get India a chance to get on board.
