Former champions Russia made it to the last eight of the 2010 Davis Cup with a convincing 3-1 win over India today. Russia made an impressive start to the tie when Mikhail Youzhny and Igor Kunitsyn both easily won their opening day singles rubbers.
An emphatic win by the Indian doubles duo of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, formerly popular as Indian-Express, gave a new angle to the competition as they beat Russians to ensure that the play continues on the third reverse singles day.
However, in the very first reverse singles rubber, Dubai finalist Mikhail Youzhny humbled India's No.1 Somdev Devvarman 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 to confirm Russia's place in the quarterfinals.
In the fifth dead rubber, Rohan Bopanna is due to play Igor Kunitsyn.
