Roger Federer withdraws from Paris ATP Masters
World No. 1 Roger Federer pulled out of the Paris ATP Masters on Sunday to take enough rest before returning to action for the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Swiss legend Roger Federer pulled out of the Paris Masters on Sunday to take enough rest for the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

The ATP World Tour 1000 Masters, indoor Paris tournament begins on Monday. The top-ranked Swiss announced his withdrawal from this tournament after losing a two-hour, 44-minute title match against Juan Martin del Potro at the Swiss Indoors Basel.

"It's the only right decision for me,'' Federer quoted.  "I had some niggling stuff and I didn't want to take a chance obviously before the World Tour Finals. I need some time to prepare.'' Last season, Federer claimed the Paris Masters tournament for the first time in his career.

"I had one of the best weeks of my life last year,'' he said. "The fans were amazing, and the last thing I want to do is mislead any fans. This is really just a last-minute decision.''

Though, Federer lost to Del Potro in Basel final, he will start a record 302nd week ranked as World No. 1 on Monday. Federer might lose his top ranking to Novak Djokovic, if the latter manages to do well in the remaining two tournaments on ATP World Tour.

Tournament organizers said Federer will be replaced in the main draw by lucky loser Victor Hanescu of Romania.

Yea, look @ the London Tour Final draw. Djokovic, Murray, Tsonga n Berdych all have beaten Federer. Roger being knockout in this group A is high. Grp B only Del Potro have beaten Roger, so gg to semi shd be fairly high. "Smart Tactictical Roger.

At a point " the SunZhi Art of war" strategically , at ATP Final Tour, Roger will be in a group w/o Andy so, Djokovic n Murray in the Other Group. Which means; Roger getting to semi-final is high n Choosing to play either Novak or Andy.

Poor Roger. After a really good second half of season, he will most likely drop to 2.
