It wasn't blues for Roger Federer as he won a record tying 20th ATP 1000 Masters Title after he just escaped Tomas Berdych in three closely contested sets 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 in 2 hours and 37 minutes. Federer, wearing a blue t shirt looked a bit weary but managed scraping through after being down a set.
Berdych won the first set after some really impressive serving. In 36 minutes Berdych hit 14 winners with just 2 unforced errors. He got the crucial break early in the set as he kept holding his serve. Berdych also played really sensibly and took chances when he needed to on the Federer serve.
Federer responded superbly after taking the second set after a double fault from Berdych sent the match into a decider. The set was just one minute short of the hour mark as Federer broke twice to seal the set with 18 winners and 4 aces. He won 75% of his first serve points as the match went into a decider.
The final set was a very interesting one, with the eight game being the most exciting one. Trailing 3-4, 0-40, Berdych fired three aces to get the game to deuce, but followed it with two double faults to get himself broken. At 5-3, Federer gets broken to give the match another twist.
Federer finally raised his arms in triumph after the Berdych forehand found the net as Federer won his second Masters title of the year! Congratulations to the Swiss Maestro.
