New season will bring new hopes and opportunities for the players and like others; Swiss Maestro Roger Federer has been aiming to reclaim his No. 1 ranking at the 2013 Australian Open. Federer lost to Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals of the US Open this season and gradually he lost his No. 1 ranking to Novak Djokovic.
The Swiss genius managed to reach the zenith of his career twice, producing unparalleled performances with tremendous consistency. This year, Federer triumphed at the Wimbledon and reclaimed his No. 1 ranking. If Federer manages to make a deep run into the 2013 Aussie Open, he can certainly reclaim his numero-uno position –provided Djokovic loses in the early rounds.
Federer won his last Aussie Open title in 2010 after beating Andy Murray in straight sets. Things have changed a lot over a period of two years and now Federer will surely opt for a different strategy to outsmart his opponents.
Federer looked in his sublime form at the Wimbledon earlier this year, but failed to maintain that form – lost to Andy Murray at the London Olympics final and then his progress was halted by Tomas Berdych at the US Open. While other players of his age are struggling to maintain decent rankings on tour, Federer is still a force to be reckoned with and no one can ever count him out.
