Roger Federer: Looking forward to first ever match against Bautista-Agut

Former five-time champion Roger Federer is set bring out his trademark all-black outfit again as he is set to feature under lights inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The former World No.1, who has been in exquisite form so far in the North American hard court swing, is to take on hard working Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in the quarterfinals. Federer has won 24 out of his 25 matches under lights here at Flushing Meadows.

His only loss came against Tomas Berdych in the fourth round two years ago but Federer said Bautista Agut deserves his absolute respect.

His only loss came against rival Tomas Berdych two years ago when the Swiss had entered the competition as the top seed. Speaking ahead of the match, Roger talked about Bautista Agut – a player he has never faced before.

"I've never played him but he's done extremely well," Federer said. "He doesn't miss much. He's consistent. He's got a pretty good first serve.

"He's not the typical Spaniard with a lot of topspin. He plays unbelievably flat actually, which is very surprising, but I'm looking forward to the match."

Day 9 throws up quite a few interesting clashes with No.7 seed Grigor Dimitrov playing Gael Monfils and Austrian youngster Dominic Thiem up against Berdych.

In the women’s section, former no.1 Caroline Wozniacki will be hoping to build on her win over Maria Sharapova in the fourth round as she takes on Italy’s Sara Errani.

Wozniacki, who has struggled to find any consistency over the last two years, said that she was loving the idea of being back in the second week of Grand Slams.

"I never doubted myself," she said. "I work hard every day. I know I have the level to compete against anybody I can beat anyone on a good day.

"Sara will be tough and get a lot of balls back. I just have to be aggressive at the right time."

The women’s draw, which only has Serena Williams remaining in the draw from the first ten seeds, is the more exciting one as apart from Williams there is no former champion left in the draw.
