American Andy Roddick somehow manages to bring his A-game on home soil and today was no exception as he registered a dominant win over Serbian Novak Djokovic to enter the semifinals of the 2010 Western and Southern Financial Group masters, an ATP World Tour 1000 event, being played here in Cincinnati, USA.
Roddick opened the match on a strong note and broke Djokovic's serve early on to race away with the first set by 6 games to 4. The second set did not change the story much as Roddick broke Djokovic's serve once again to get a formidable 5-3 lead. Djokovic did make a mini-comeback in the match by getting the break back for 5-5 but another mistake cost him the game and the match as Roddick completed the 6-4, 7-5 victory in one hour and 23 minutes of play.
He now faces compatriot and childhood friend Mardy Fish in the semifianls, Fish took out an in-form Scot Andy Murray in a marathon struggle, ending in his favour with a 6-7(7), 6-1, 7-6(5) scoreline.
